Yesterday I landed on the website of a small (less than a dozen employees) marketing firm that claims to specialize in:
- Web Design & Development
- Search Engine Optimization
- Mobile App Development
- Logo Design
- Animated Video
Impressive? Maybe. Can you really specialize in that many different areas and still use the word “specialize”?
In the early days of Big Fish we also offered a variety of services under the digital umbrella. For the record, these were services we offered, not specialties.
Here’s the thing – staying on top of one niche in the digital world is something that needs to happen weekly, if not daily. Juggling multiple different niches – well, we decided to leave that to other agencies so we could geek out with focus.
At Big Fish, mobile app development is all we do – and we love doing it!
This single-niche focus means we [as a whole company] can stay on top of our field, better serve our clients and avoid watering down our expertise.
It also sets us apart from many other Mobile App Development agencies who create websites, offer branding services and manage social media campaigns.
The benefits of hiring specialists aren’t all obvious. Here are three you might not consider, until you experience them as a client.
1. When You Hire Us, We Do the Work
Many of the large marketing and advertising agencies also bid to develop their clients’ mobile application. There is a convenience factor here…they are already your agency of record, you know them, they know you – hiring your marketing agency to write your custom software seems like a great plan.
The behind-the-scenes reality is, often that large agency of record you’re working with is outsourcing the job to a team of specialists like Big Fish, and marking up our prices.
Depending on how you look at it, this is convenient for your company and a way for the agency to remain the go-to source for your wide variety of marketing, advertising….and software needs.
You could go that route, but quite frankly – we’d rather work with you directly and avoid the middle man.
When you hire us to create your corporate iOS app it will be developed by a passionate Apple fan and developer. We don’t ask our Android developer to learn Objective-C or Swift for iOS. You can put your money on our team to love what we do.
We don’t generalize. Generalizing might be convenient, but as the owner of this company, I’d rather have a passionate team excited to get to work each day, than a team of generalists feeling ho-hum about their work.
This passion translates into a team that loves what they do and goes above and beyond to solve problems, stay on top of their field and create an app that we take pride in being part of.
This is that certain je ne sais quoi that leaves you with a confidence-inspiring gut feeling that we get it.
I hear this again and again.
We bring fresh insight to your challenges, new ideas to your project, and we speak “business” too.
Our decision to specialize only on mobile app development benefits our team, and, in turn, yours.
Specialty, verb: to pursue some special line of study, work, etc.; have a specialty: The doctor specializes in cardiology.
After all, would you choose a cardiologist who also “specializes” in dentistry, gynecology, obstetrics, neurology and oncology?
I know I want the cupcake with the chocolate-dipped strawberry on top.
