TradeSync Modernizes Trade-to-Trade Communication for Home Builders and Subcontractors

In the construction industry, work on-site moves forward – until it’s blocked. Tradespeople, like door installers, often arrive ready to work only to find that a prerequisite task, such as framing, is incomplete.

The current process to resolve these issues involves multiple layers of phone calls and messages that run through subcontractors and construction managers, creating frustrating back-and-forth and delaying project progress.

TradeSync saw the opportunity to eliminate the middleman and enable faster, more direct communication between trades.

Key challenges included:

• Delays caused by incomplete prerequisite work

• No simple way for trades to report site issues in real time

The vision: create a simple, intuitive software that allows trades to report deficiencies and notify the responsible party in real time.

TradeSync partnered with Big Fish to bring their concept to life. The engagement began with a custom-built MVP, giving TradeSync a tangible proof of concept to demonstrate to potential home builder clients.

After the successful MVP, Big Fish went on to develop the full Version 1 of the software, which is now in beta testing.

Key features of the solution include:

• QR Code Reporting: Each homesite is assigned a unique QR code, which tradespeople scan to open a web-based, mobile-friendly reporting form. The form automatically populates job site information to reduce errors and speed up submissions.
• Deficiency and Completion Reports: Tradespeople can submit two types of reports – “I’m blocked” deficiency reports or successful completion reports.
• Automated Trade Identification: The software predicts which subcontractor is responsible for the reported issue and sends the report directly to them.
• Role-Based Access: TradeSync users include Home Builders, Construction Managers, Subcontractors and Tradespeople. Each has unique access to view and manage reports relevant to their role.
• Alerts and Notifications: When a report is submitted, email and text notifications are sent to the Home Builder, Construction Manager and the responsible Subcontractor. Reports are also available in a centralized dashboard.
• Builder and Subcontractor Management: Home Builders can add Construction Managers, print QR codes and manage communities. Subcontractors can view reports tied to their trades and homesites.

TradeSync is now available for beta testing and actively being used to streamline trade-to-trade communication. By eliminating unnecessary steps and providing a transparent, accountable system, TradeSync reduces costly delays and keeps projects moving forward.

Home Builders gain visibility into progress and issues at each homesite, while Subcontractors are alerted immediately when action is required. Tradespeople benefit from a simple, intuitive way to escalate roadblocks and report job completion – right from their smartphone – and without needing to download an app.
